3. On Monday 17 October at 7.30pm the Plaza Community Cinema in Liverpool is holding a memorial event to those who fought in the Spanish Civil War. The evening includes a screening of Land and Freedom plus a message of support from Ken Loach, songs from the Spanish Civil War by the Liverpool Socialist Singers, a speaker from the International Brigade Memorial Trust, and exhibitions of photographs and artwork made by children evacuated during the war.

4. Heritage Footsteps is a new Heritage Lottery Funded project to create a digital history trail along Salford's Chapel Street and Crescent. The project is seeking volunteers to get involved from October onwards in the creation of a Web-based, freely accessible trail. With digital mapping, video, pictures, audio and text, the trail will illustrate and promote some of the heritage of the Chapel Street area.

Volunteers will be involved through research classes, media skills training, digital content creation or by simply relating their memories of the Chapel Street area.
